Midterm piece

This piece was the piece for my Mid-term exam. Selected the two people, refine edge, made shadows for them. Cloned out the timestamp at the top left corner. Put the picture of the fire hydrant in, layer masked the background out. Added lady walking dog for extra credit.

Pop Art

During this assignment, I learned to use the Filters panel, the threshold option, the hard brushes, as well as making a new layer background copy for dodging and burning. I aadjusted the colors in black and white, applied a threshold, dodged and burned for detail, colored with a hard brush (creating a new layer for each color so that when the ben day dots were applied, they could be different) then I used the filter panel to apply ben day dots and other atristic effects to the bird lamp and the backgrround - what was originally a blank purple wall.

Pop Art Examples

Pop art is artistic movement that is influencd by popular culture or advertising. Bold colors, ben day dots, harsh lines and chaotic clashing are traits that pop art can take on, and well. The pictures I chose I like because each is significantly different than the others, they're all creative, and they all are pulled off very well.

Change My Look

^ The first image is of the celebrity. Mine is Jared Leto. I changed his hair color to a really dark purple and his eyes to a bright golden-orange color.

The second is of >   another student, Samantha. I took her picture, made her hair color orange, put her in a mansion, and gave her a tattoo and a hat.

The third image is of me, in front of a car. There was more done before, but it didn't save right.

Layer Mask

The point of this project was to practice using Layer Masks. I found an image for the ground/landscape, one for the sky, one for a tree, and then three objects of our choice. One at a time I added another image to the fray, and used Layer Masks to hide all the bits and pices of the photos that I didn't want, leaving just what could be seen, and continually adding to the photograph. I resized the images quite a lot, as well.

Wasn't my favourite assignment, so it won't be my best.

Magic Wand

The point of this project was to use the Magic wand tool to automatically select the shapes (the tool works by color) and copy/paste them into the white half of the rectangle, each in their own seperate layer - each named, of course - and then arrange all the shapes into another shape or arrangement.

The form I finally decided on was a dog. The square with the shapes cut out of it is the head, the square is one ear, and the double-square is another ear. The shape with all the sharp angles and corners is the tail, one of the squigly objects is the tongue, and the other is the body.

All About Me

This was a project that was meant for us to explore and practice tool use, as well as tell a little about ourselves. The point was to go and find at least 10 images that had something to do with us, and arrange them into a photoshop document. Four of the images had to be cut out, and ther had to be a colored background and a laye of text with the person's name on it.

In this project, I have my full name, a fading black/white background, 6 cut out images, and 5 solid images.
The importance of the images?

Griffins: Griffins have to be my favourite mythical creature, and the two different shades symbolize that there's always anotther side to things.

Airplanes: The airplane going into the upper left corner and the airplane symbol in the upper right near the text are there because my ideal career choice would be Pilot.

The Cat and Dog: I love animals, and I have a few cats and 3 dogs.

Me: The nagative picture of me is something I made a while back.

Swingset: No matter how old I get, I love swingsets. They're a nice place to relax, read, or just think things over.

Hugh Laurie: House is my favourite TV show, so that's in there too.

Crazy Combos 9/3/10

Second project. The idea was to create a creature using all different parts and pieces. First, I had to figure out what I wanted the body to be, and at first I started looking at Zebras, and then the horse idea came up. I prefer the Magnetic Lasso tool, so that's what I used for most of the cutting.  I took the body/head and put it into a new document. The wings and tail are from a picture of a Seagull, found on Google, and the antlers are from a picture of a White Tail Deer, also found on Google. The feet are from a stock photo of a dead bird of Deviantart.com, and credit for that picture goes to ~dark-dragon-stock. Thanks.
